A3a leak - Extradimensional Crisis info

22nd May

It’s already time! Another set it on the Horizon and confirmed for the 29th May! Extradimensional Crisis is the next booster pack! Let’s dive into some of the leaks! First off, the EX cards;

Buzzwole EX

This is a card people have been waiting for. Some are confused on the typing, I’m sure many were hoping for a Fighting type. It’s an “Ultra Beast”, as for what that means gameplay wise is unknown. But it is an EX! 3 energy for 120dmg is pretty mild but only using it once every 2 turns isn’t great…suffice to say, most are disappointed with this one.

There are other EX cards as well and while we don’t know exactly how many there are, we know there’s approximately 100 cards.

Guzzlord EX

This card, could be extremely annoying to play against. It essentially has a built in Team Rocket Grunt effect. Grindcore deals 30dmg and has the ability to discard random energy based on consecutive heads from coin flips. Tyrannical Hole is just terrible, 4 energy - 120dmg. It’s a basic, so no evolution and can be found with a Pokeball but still…

Tapu Koko EX

This is one people have been waiting for. Tapu Koko EX has 2 attacks. One is akin to Pachirisu, Plasma Hurricane deals 20dmg and adds 1 Electric energy from the energy zone and attach it to this Pokemon. 2 issues with this, firstly, it only charges itself. Secondly, this can be countered with Banette. Mach Bolt, 3 energy for 90dmg isn’t stellar either in the current meta.

Ultra Necrozma EX

This Dragon type likely has no weaknesses. As with other Dragons, it also uses 2 energy types. This time, it’s Psychic and Metal. “Shoegaze” is probably the most silly name we’ve ever had, but the effect is no laughing matter. Discard the top 5 cards of each player’s deck…This is massive. 5 cards is a huge penalty to pay for both player. Consider this, attacking twice with this Pokemon means 10 cards are discarded. Gone for good. That’s half the deck…we’ll have to see how this plays out.

Now let’s take a quick look at some other cards in the packs.

There’s also a trainer card of particular interest shown in the trailer.

Lusamine Trainer Card

Not an immersive this time. This trainer card is tailored specifically to Ultra Beast cards. Additionally, you can only use it if your opponent has at least 1 point. Choose 1 of your Ultra Beast Pokemon and attach 2 random energy from your discard pile to that Pokemon. Similar to Volkner but with more restrictions. At least this works on any type so it’s a must have for all Ultra Beast decks.

There’s a few more things. There were 2 cosmetic items shown as well;

There is the Buzzwole Cover and Rowlet Display Board! Both perfectly matching the new cards. Finally, we are also set to receive new events! Here’s a breakdown of those;

Ultra Beast Drop event - June 3rd to June 13th, solo battles for special promo cards including Necrozma EX.

Wonderpick event - June 11th to June 21st, expected to see extra Wonderpicks containing Poipole and Stufful.

Ultra Beast Mass Outbreak - June 22nd to June 28th, expect to see Chansey and Bonus Wonderpicks containing Ultra Beast Pokemon.

That’s all we know so far. Next set is confirmed to drop on the 29th May. So be ready. We will of course have breakdowns of all these events and the set list when it releases. So keep ‘em peeled until then.
